The Shell Japan Imagine 101 is a Japanese sinking lipless minnow — 101mm, 20g — built for a medium to fast linear retrieve or jerk-and-pause presentation in the sub-surface zone. At 20g for 101mm it has excellent casting weight for its profile, giving you the distance and depth to cover estuary channels, river mouths and beach gutters where mulloway and tailor are holding below the surface. Shell Japan is a boutique Japanese lure maker whose products rarely appear in Australia — this is a genuine JDM lure that you won’t find in any Australian tackle shop.

Crackle Red / Clear is a striking and unusual finish — a transparent body with a vivid red crackle pattern over the top, gold/olive back and a subtle pink belly. The crackle finish catches light differently from painted lures and produces a flash and shimmer that is particularly effective in low-light conditions. It’s a colour that stands out in the water without being garish.

HOW TO FISH IT

Cast it out, let it sink to the desired depth, then retrieve steadily on a medium to fast pace to activate the linear action. Works well with short sharp jerks followed by a pause — effective for mulloway and tailor holding in the water column during low-light feeding windows. Fish it through estuary channels, river mouths and beach gutters on the Swan River, Peel-Harvey and WA coast.
