System Minnow 139F 140mm 16g – Blue Sardine

The System Minnow 139F is a long, slim Japanese floating minnow — 140mm, 16g — built around a realistic sardine/baitfish profile that is particularly effective when WA estuary fish are feeding on larger elongated baitfish. At 140mm it sits at the larger end of the minnow range, giving it a presence in the water that smaller lures simply can’t match when mulloway and tailor are keyed in on mullet or yellowtail-sized prey.

The Blue Sardine colour is a natural, realistic baitfish pattern — deep blue/teal back, holographic silver flanks, white belly — that works across a wide range of light conditions and water clarity on the Swan River and Peel-Harvey.

HOW TO FISH IT

Work it on a slow to medium retrieve along estuary edges, channel margins and shallow flats. The floating action lets you pause and let it rise — effective for mulloway holding in the water column during low-light feeding windows. Increase the pace for tailor and salmon. Best fished when fish are feeding on larger baitfish rather than small herring or whitebait.
