The ima Sobat 80 is a genuine Japanese sinking lure from ima (AMS Design / アムズデザイン) — one of Japan's most respected lure makers. Originally designed for Japanese seabass, the Sobat 80 is a versatile 80mm 13g sinking lure that works equally well as a sinking pencil on a slow retrieve or a tight-wobbling minnow when wound faster. That dual personality makes it unusually adaptable for WA estuary fishing.

The Red Head Silver colour is a proven attractor pattern — high-vis head, clean silver body — that works across a wide range of light conditions and water clarity. At 20–50 cm running depth it sits perfectly in the upper water column, ideal for mulloway and tailor working shallow estuary flats and channel edges.

HOW TO FISH IT

Slow retrieve for a sinking pencil action — effective for mulloway on the drop and during low-light feeding windows. Wind faster to activate the minnow wobble for tailor, salmon and flathead. Count it down to depth, then vary your retrieve speed to find what's working on the day.
